Saturday, February 19th two Kenyon-Wanamingo High School students, senior Elliot Olson and junior Ashley Rechtzigel, participated in the reunion performance of the Minnesota All-State Choirs. The concert was held at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis at 10:00am on 2/19. This performance was a "reunion" from their week at all-state camp which was held at St. John's University in August of 2021. 


Saturday, February 19th, two Kenyon-Wanamingo High School students, sophomore William Van Epps and ninth grader Lydia Flotterud, participated in the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) of Minnesota 9th & 10th grade honor choirs! Lydia sang in the Soprano-Alto Choir and William sang in the Tenor-Bass Choir. Ninth grader Charlie Koncur was also selected for this prestigious honor but due to a schedule change was not be able to participate. 
The concert was held at Bethel University's Benson Hall at 5:15pm on 2/19.

Congratulations to the Kenyon-Wanamingo Band and Choir Students who recently participated in the Gopher Conference Honors Concert! This event took place on Saturday, February 5th at Waterville Elysian Morristown (WEM) High School!

Congratulations to Rachel Nesseth on being selected as the Region 1A Triple ‘A’ Award Winner!  This is an outstanding accomplishment for Rachel, her family, and Kenyon-Wanamingo Schools!  Best of luck to Rachel as she advances to the state level Triple ‘A’ competition!  The attached picture collage captures some of what makes Rachel such a well-rounded student and a very deserving Triple ‘A’ Award Winner!

Triple A Students Recognized


Alex Vold and Rachel Nesseth, K-W High School seniors, were selected locally to represent Kenyon-Wanamingo High School in the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award program.  Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award (Triple ‘A’ Award) is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to high school seniors who have a “B” or better grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.  Congratulations to Alex and Rachel on being nominated for this Award!

Congratulations to the 2021-2022 "Students of the Semester 1"

KWHS "Sounds of the Season" Concert and Silent Auction

Tuesday, December 14th 7 p.m. KWHS Auditorium


Enjoy an evening of traditional carols and songs of the season presented by the KWHS Band and Choir. There will be a silent auction held before the concert and during intermission to raise funds for students going on the Nashville trip. Please bring cash or checkbook and plan to have a 'one-stop' shopping experience for all your Holiday gifts. 

Cemetery Stories

The Kenyon Wanamingo HS Band Students will be putting on "Cemetery Stories."  Enjoy an evening of stories highlighting unique historical figures from the Kenyon-Wanamingo area who are buried at Holden Lutheran Cemetery.  This event will happen on Monday, November 15th at 7 p.m.  
High School students will enact these characters in a very personal way at the grave site of each of the deceased.  In addition to hearing riveting stories from the grave, the audience will be treated to hot apple cider, treats and some live music.  
A free will offering will be collected to support students who are going to Nashville and St. Louis this spring.

St. Olaf Band

The St. Olaf Band in Concert at Kenyon-Wanamingo H.S. October 22nd 7 p.m.

Do. not miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to see the St. Olaf perform in Kenyon this October. There is unique history connecting St. Olaf with the Kenyon Wanamingo area. The St. Olaf band took its first band tour to Kenyon, MN in the late 1800s. There is also a shared history connecting St. Olaf College and the Kenyon-Wanamingo Area! Bernt Julius Muus (founder of St. Olaf College) also founded many local country churches- Churches like Vang, Vasa, Holden, Valley Grove, Aspelund and more. The Kenyon-Wanamingo High School Band attended a team-building activity day at Nerstrand Big Woods State Park on Wednesday, September 22nd!  Band students engaged in collaborative activities which reinforced teamwork, problem solving and strategy while building relationships with new band members.  Look for additional pictures on the Kenyon-Wanamingo Band Facebook Page.

The KWHS choirs are singing the National Anthem at the MN Twins!
Tune in to the Twins vs Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, Sept 24th at 7pm to hear our musicians perform as part of Choir Night with the Twins 2021!
