Kenyon - Wanamingo Schools

My name is Matt Ryan and I'm looking forward to the 25-26 school year at K-W Schools! This will be my 28th year as a staff member at K-W and my 11th year as a Principal in the MS/HS building with 9 of those years as 7-12 Principal and the addition of grades 5/6 during the 23-24 school year.  I spent my first 10 years at K-W as an Elementary Classroom Teacher in 2nd and 3rd grade. That was followed by two years as 5-8 Administrative Intern and five years as K-6 Principal before moving to the 7-12 Principal Position. I also filled the role as Head Wrestling Coach my first 21 years in the district.

I have three kids. Tyler is 25 and is working as an electrician. Brianna is 23 and graduated from Winona State University in the spring of 2025 with a Nursing degree.  She is currently employed at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Rachel is 19 and is in her second year at Winona State majoring in Elementary Education.   

I am proud to be a member of the Kenyon Wanamingo community, and I will do my best to give us the type of school we have come to expect and deserve. Every decision I make will have the best interest of the students' education in mind and will be done in a fair and honest way. I believe in open communication and I am always ready to listen.

I am committed to challenging our students to their highest level of achievement. Three areas of focus for me as 5-12 Principal include providing a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for our students, putting a focus on making sure our students are connected and have positive relationships with their teachers and other adults in the building, and using our time with students as efficiently and effectively as possible each day.
